Alejandro Berconsky

Without being conceptual, the Alejandro Berconsky ‘s work tells permanently these tensions that create complementarity. Playing with fundamental driving forces of the plastic creation, he explores the problematics of repetition, ornamental and reappropriation of the manufactured object.
But, with his work of the iron material, he tries above all to express this unrealistic quest of harmony that moves us.
Works by Alejandro Berconsky are dealing with beauty and hostility, sensuality and hardness of the material and the organic and geometrical dimension of the shape. Not to illustrate an idea but to try a formal and intuitive approximativity of the world that surrounds him, by the only need of sublimating the reality.
After a youth spent between Argentina and Venezuela, Alejandro Berconsky moves to Montpellier, his adopted city since 1995. Then, he starts sculpture.
He tries all the materials : mud, plaster, resin mostly. He draws a lot, is looking into him, tries painting. Then the collage appears to him like an obviousness, synthesis of his research.
During 6 years, he develops an intense work about body. He looks for the material in porn iconography, and from « selected pieces » from unknown bodies, he recreates a decorative poetry made of flesh which will take the shape of ephemeral and flexible installations.
In 2006, he goes back to his firt love of sculpture and begins relentlessly the work with iron welded. With the same questionning…
